About

Cheers!

This is me: Cocktail Queen

Sometime ago, I just got fed up of reaching for another glass of wine and thought I’d make myself a cocktail.  Well that certainly brightened things up, but I just needed a few more ingredients.  And herein lies a fortune spent and an ever-expanding cocktail bar and menu.

Friday night cocktails

After a very short while, a new year was upon us and I made my new year resolution to have/make at least one cocktail I’ve never had before each and every week for that year.  Well, I managed that with bells *and* whistles on and (I think) 7 or 8 years later, possibly more, I’m still going.  I’m not insisting on a new one every weekend, but I do still love to experiment.  And actually, they’re no longer just a Friday night cocktail: they’re weekend cocktails.  In the plural.

Cocktail party?

And then since 2015, I’ve been holding cocktail parties at my house for friends, raising money for my own charity The Eye Fund.  Our earlier menus were simple and aimed to give everybody a great night: I provided the booze, designed a menu around a few core ingredients, and wrote out instruction cards so that my friends could each make their own.  The formula proved a great success and (pandemic not withstanding) aim to have at least one a year sometimes two, raising thousands of pounds for The Eye Fund.

The pandemic has seen the launch of Cocktail Queen Masterclasses in which I will talk you and your friends or family through a bespoke menu of cocktails comfortably in your own home. I’m happy to take these out into a post pandemic world, whenever we get there, so just drop me a line if you’re interested or read on here. It certainly has helped bridge the gap just a little in our fundraising shortfall.

Facebook cocktails

Because I am very often thrilled with my results, I want to share them with everybody.  My default has always been my personal Facebook page, although I do sometimes tweet them as well.  After a while, I was getting requests for instructions, and sometimes I’d get a “what can I make with…?” request.  Of course, I’m happy to oblige, particularly if it means me experimenting with something new to me!  And of course now, I have a CQ Facebook page too to share them with a much wider audience.

I’ve also built up quite a presence as #CocktailQueen on our work social media platform where my #FridayNightCocktail posts are bringing in a similar (although rather more professional, a little more restrained) response.

CQBlog

And now I’m writing a CQBlog to open the window into our world, so you can share our joy, but perhaps mostly be relieved that your world is a little less stressful.

So, all of this is why I’m here…

I want to share my enthusiasm with you!  I want you to enjoy a cocktail or two every now and again.  I’d like to be able to help you, and actually, I’d like to be able to help The Eye Fund more too.
